1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) is part of our Terms of Service. It applies to anyone who uses VerifyUniverse websites, accounts, virtual numbers or inboxes. VerifyUniverse is a United States company (est. 2025) based in Dayton, Tennessee.
We provide dedicated numbers so people and teams can keep personal mobiles private and receive legitimate codes and calls. Misuse harms carriers, platforms, other customers and our ability to offer the product.
2. Allowed uses
Subject to law and these rules, you may use numbers you lawfully hold to:
- Receive one-time passcodes and account security messages for accounts you are authorized to create or manage.
- Use a second line for personal or small-business communications that comply with applicable telemarketing and messaging laws.
- Operate a shared team inbox for legitimate customer or operational traffic.
- Test your own applications’ SMS or voice flows where you control both ends and comply with carrier rules.
3. Prohibited uses
You may not use the service to:
- Spam or bulk messaging abuse — send unsolicited commercial SMS, robocalls or high-volume messaging that violates carrier rules or consent laws (including TCPA and similar regimes).
- Fraud and scams — phishing, social engineering, impersonation, romance or investment scams, fake support schemes, or any attempt to deceive others for gain.
- Illegal activity — any use that violates US federal or state law, or the laws of jurisdictions where you or recipients are located, including drug trafficking, exploitation, harassment, threats or money laundering.
- Account takeovers and credential stuffing — intercept codes for accounts you do not own or lack authority to access.
- Evasion of bans or sanctions — create accounts or continue activity to circumvent platform bans, court orders, sanctions or law-enforcement process.
- Malware and attacks — distribute malware links, conduct denial-of-service activity, or probe systems without authorization.
- Resale without permission — resell, sublease or publicly list VerifyUniverse numbers as a shared “public inbox” or disposable pool without our written approval.
- Interference — disrupt the service, overload carriers, or reverse engineer systems in ways that harm security or availability.
4. Verification and platform abuse
Using a virtual number for verification of accounts you are authorized to hold can be legitimate. The following are not:
- Mass-creating accounts on third-party platforms to farm bonuses, inventory, referrals or promotions.
- Systematically defeating a platform’s phone-verification or anti-abuse controls.
- Buying many numbers solely to rotate identities for prohibited or deceptive activity.
- Any pattern that causes platforms or carriers to block VerifyUniverse ranges and harm other customers.
Third-party platforms decide whether to accept virtual numbers. Rejection by a platform is not a defect we guarantee to fix, and attempting to force acceptance through abusive techniques violates this AUP.
5. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations using account, payment and traffic signals. We may warn, throttle, suspend or permanently terminate accounts; reclaim numbers; refuse refunds where misuse occurred; and cooperate with carriers, platforms and law enforcement when legally required or reasonably necessary to stop harm.
We are not obligated to monitor all content, but we may review messages or metadata when investigating abuse, security incidents or legal requests, consistent with our Privacy Policy.
6. Reporting abuse
If you believe a VerifyUniverse number is being used for spam, fraud or other abuse, contact [email protected] with the number, timestamps and a brief description. Include any message samples that are lawful for you to share.
